Anyone out there have any stories about that infamous, attention grabbing, physical education tool that all Latino Mothers used on us. These decipline tool was and still is know as "LA CHANCLA". The chancla that my mother used on me when ever I needed an attitude adjustment, she purchased them in Juarez. This chancla was a Mexican Indian style sandal with a vehicle tire sole. Well, you can imagine how I looked after getting hit with that. One day at school I was asked by a teacher what had happened to me when she saw the "tire" marks on me. All I said was that a car had run over me. I did not dare squeal on my Mom.

living in the projects the chancla was the most feared form of punishment ever ,there was one mom who could throw that thing like a curve ball and hit you while hiding around a corner too bad we can't use it anymore

Default La Chancla....

Hey Boracho....

I've told people about the curve with the chancla and catch us around the corner of the house and they don't believe me. My mom could stand right in front of me, take the chancla off her foot, hit me with it, put it back on her foot, and I wouldn't see it coming. I'm all against child abuse and mistreatment, but the CHANCLA straighten me out. I'm the productive, easy going, and successful person because of that. Its funny though how you can ask any Latino that understands Spanish about the chancla and they all have a story about it.

I will vouch for the curve of la chancla that thing was like half a boomerang I would be hiding around the corner and I would peek and I would hear a swoosh and than whack you were hit and if you didn't run away into the desert the mom that threw it would be on you in half a second with the chancla in hand

My grandpa had pinpoint deadly accuracy with the "chancla", he would throw it and like 10 min later out of nowhere, bam! It would hit you in the back of the head!

Half the time my mom couldn't even find a chancla to throw at me. Phones and spatulas worked just the same.
