Default Moving to El Paso

Hi,

I've just found out that we are moving to El Paso. Next Month! I know abs. nothing about the area. I've only been once for a long weekend years ago What do I need to know? I work from home and my hubby will be working on the Ft. Bliss project. What is there to do in the area? I'm a Diver (SCUBA), but I assume I'm out of luck right? What areas should we look at for housing (rentals to start)? Any help/info would be great! Thanks!

First off, welcome to El Paso. I really hope you enjoy your stay here.

This is a desert area so scuba activities will be limited. Don't let that stop you. My Mom's boyfriend is an enthusiast and there are a lot of clubs are travel groups for that hobby. You just have to look around a little bit.

As far as what you need to know, pretty much all the regulars here are going to say the exact same things that have been said in the following threads.

The new Desert Divers store at Mesa/I-10 always seems busy. I know they clean the seal tank twice month at the zoo. Desert Divers Southwest

I'm also surprised at the number of boat lovers in El Paso. The boats are parked in their driveways and get lots of tender loving care but never go anywhere.

You're closer to scuba diving than you think. Balmorhea State Park is about 4 hours east of El Paso and it has a big pool that you can scuba dive in. I know it's not the ocean or anything but i heard it was pretty cool.

They have some diving at Caballo or Elephant Butte also don't they? That's not a long drive to those lakes.
