Yes Jim is making it into a Doubletree Hotel he also owns a buiding on Oregon St. He had a party a couple of nights ago, but I don't have the invite in front of me so don't know where it was at. I'm not going home to ELP for Xmas so -guess it doesn't matter but he probably talked about his plans then.

Jim was very creative about getting govt help on this project.

Muhney your idea on those condos sounds good but I'm not sure about the golf course- raw land prices are so high- because there isn't much available.

I totally agree....if our city leaders and involved persons weren't so backwards...we'd have a Mountain walk by now!! It'd be OUR version of the River Walk...we don't have nice water....but we have an awesome mountain with an awesome view! Imagine Scenic Drive resculpted to include restaurants and other entertainment venues all with outside patio table and fantastic views of the city!...But nature groups would never allow that even though it would only use up the what's pretty much already being used by all of us. And then imagine all the businesses light up with colored lighting so from a distance at night it would look like a Colorful entertainment strip in the middle of the mountain!

Before any high rise condos can be built in ELP, downtown has to be renovated and made friendly for people to live there like having restaurants that do not close at 5 PM and being cleaned up..Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth have high rise condos...but they are usually high and how many people in EP can really afford them

El Paso offers some spectacular views; the mountains and desert are nothing to be scoffed at (they are beautiful). A high rise condo or apt. complex would be a good idea, IMO.

A high rise condo would ruin the spectacular view for everyone else.
