Hi

I'm trying to find out if there are any high rise condos in El Paso.
Someone mentioned the Fairmont condominiums on north stanton
st. If anybody knows anything about the Fairmont like
size of units and assoc. fees I would like to find out about
it or any other urban condos in the El Paso area.

Thanks

I've thought about that -- I once looked at buying 1217 North Mesa and making it into big condos- nice location but the sellers were not honest about the defects or repairs nor were reasonable about the price $800k so i gave it up. It does have about 5 floors - if 3or 4 people were to go in on it and carve up some nice condos - it could be interesting.

I remember back in 1988 they were gonna build a 20 story condo High Rise on the west side but for what ever reason they never were built .

What is high rise?

We tend to be a horizontal kind of town. Sprawled out, not high-rise. Most of us prefer being on the ground or not too far from it.

If El Paso could catch up with the rest of the world, I could see some nice Mountain Side High Rise Condos over looking the city at night.. with a spa and 18 hole golf course. Even a 5 star restaurant in the building. It would be something to attract the Snow Birds to El Paso during the cold months. The Desert can be a draw if you sell it right. Some people don't like being near the water.. or near a fault line.. or green trees. Some would really enjoy a nice desert view, and the twinkle of the city lights at night.

I heard Jim Scherr (former city councillor) was going to turn the old International Hotel downtown into condos. It's about 10 stories high. I guess those plans haven't gone anywhere.

The International Hotel is being converted into a Double Tree Hotel and is close to completion.

I believe there was a proposal to convert the downtown Bassett Tower into condos but that plan has likely been put on hold with the economic downturn.

Was there not a plan to turn the Plaza Hotel into condos, too?
