Default Re Violence in Mexico and possible collapse of it's government?

Check out this grave assessment on Mexico. The violence there, and right next door to El Paso should be of concern with those of you living right next to Mexico, as well as those who live there.

This article lends credence to the assessments made by non other than Munhay way back...

U.S. military report warns 'sudden collapse' of Mexico is possible - El Paso Times

This is from U.S. Joint Forces Command, not a think tank. 'Looks like Ft. Bliss might need to train for things other than Middle East wars.

I did read where new mexico senator Jeff Bingaman and texas senator Kay Bailey Hutchison are proposing legislation that has the ATF flooding down to the border to try to fight the gun smuggling back and forth from Mexico.

Bingaman and Hutchison Renew Effort to Enact Southwest Border Violence Reduction Act

That would solve the problem for nacrotics but might create a bigger and worse problem and that is the people being angry about US forces in Mexico regardless of good intentions and then of course you would have other countries comparing us to Russia and the Ukraine, Israel and Gaza. It's a very tough issue.

I think the Mexican people right there would be grateful for it. I can't imagine why they like it there the way it is. Because right now their own government is worthless.

It's alarming that they are coming right out and saying this now, you have to wonder what has led them to finally admit something isn't right.

They must have some good intel they are just beginning to share, why else break the silence? Also, maybe coincidence, but the President of Mexico met with President Elect Obama... I wonder if there was a request for something there.

I hope that did not hurt to bad to admit that HOOK. =)

I wish we could just overtake Mexico, and make it part of the USA.. it would be much easier to secure the smaller border, and it would increase our coast line, and better both sides of the current line.

EDIT: Hey I just had a thought, what happens to the NAFTA agreement if Mexico's Government crashes? What happens to the plants that are currently still operating just across our border? Will US Businesses have to shut down until a new government is in place? Or would any agreement we had now be null and void? Oh man that will make a big mess... I see all sorts of bad coming from this.

'You sure you don't have me confused with someone else? I don't ever recall disagreeing with you on this topic, but I could be wrong, I'm no where near posting as much as you, but I have a few!

If Mexico "collapses" it would not be good for the whole region. Then the border would have to be militarized North/South Korea style.
