Think about it.. you spend 30 years paying for your home, then when you make that last payment, you still have to pay for your home in the form of Taxes, don't pay them and they will come and take your home and toss you in jail.

So do we ever really own our homes?

And now we also have to worry if our land is more valuable as a shopping center or a highway route.. if it is the state can come in and say IMPENITENT DOMIAN ( yes I misspelled it on purpose. ) and snag your home and land give you what they think is fair market value and your stuck starting all over with a new 30 year mortgage some place else.. they cant replace the history, the memories shared there. So when will we ever really live the American dream and own our homes without fear of loosing it, or having to pay exuberant amounts of money each year in Taxes.

That is frustrating, however you can't say buying a house isn't a bargain. Its basically better than free rent in that your money most likely will grow over time.

An advantage to renting if there is one is no home repairs, no taxes,no waiting almost a year to move because you can't sell your home. Take the several hundred dollars a month you save by renting verses the higher house payment and put it towards your 401K, IRA,savings, etc. and at the end of the year see which way gave you the greatest benefit financially as well as overall stress level.

You could always take that money you got from selling it at "fair market value" and buy a house with cash, no? There by not having to start over with another 30yr mortgage.

No I do not think we ever own anything when it comes down to it.
every year we have to get new tags for our trucks & cars.
every year they go up.
and every year to the day you die you will pay taxes.
