I also think it's time to start cracking down on all those people who feel they must be surrounded by the cheapest possible live-in nannies and landscapers. They need to be paying their servants legal wages, including overtime and vacation pay, and they must be required to provide them health insurance so that their servants do not become taxpayer burdens.

Thank you malamute that sums it up.
I had a friend that just moved from here back to fort knox.
she had a job at one of the gift shops making like maybe 8dollars an hour, worked the most 20hr. wk. a no big deal little job to give her gas money thats all.She had been there for awhile never called in sick, are came in late.He husband was going to deploy out she asked for 2wks. off for his leave so she could be with him before he left, her boss said the whole 2wks(keep in mind she only worked 20hr.wk.)she told her yes the whole two wks.She was off the next 2days go back to work on monday the boss calls her in the office in said"I will not be needing your help any longer, you have been replaced with someone that needs their job!!
She was fired on the spot!! when she asked why are you doing this?
she was told " I have never paid no one as much as I did you(8dr.hr)and I have people begging for a job here,I know now not to hire Your type of people!!(whatever that means)
My friend did file a complaint with the job broad but never heard anything back so she moved back to fort knox and had a job in 3wks.

But the reason why no one here can get a job is because you have so many people from over the bridge willing to work for nothing and then you have these people willing to do anything to hire them and save 1dr.hr.

something has to be done but I do not seeing it happening with the people in office.

Napolitano orders review of Wash. immigration raid
By MANUEL VALDES, Associated Press Writer Manuel Valdes, Associated Press Writer
February 25, 2009

SEATTLE – Immigration agents this week conducted their first work-site raid since President Barack Obama took office, but it was news to their boss, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who on Wednesday ordered a review of the action.

Workplace raids involving the arrests of hundreds of illegal immigrants at a time became almost routine in the last years of the Bush administration, but Napolitano's response to Tuesday's raid at a Bellingham, Wash., manufacturing plant highlighted the Obama administration' s much different approach to a hot-button issue.

Napolitano told lawmakers during a hearing in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday that she did not know about the raid before it happened and was briefed on it early Wednesday morning. She has asked U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which arrested 28 illegal immigrants in the raid, for answers.

"I want to get to the bottom of this as well," she said. She said work-site enforcement needs to be focused on the employers.

ICE spokeswoman Lorie Dankers in Seattle declined to comment.

The raid at the Yamato Engine Specialists was the first work-site action ICE has taken since Obama took office, said Sean Smith, a spokesman at Homeland Security in Washington, D.C.

Obama, who appointed Napolitano, has signaled a shift in immigration policy that would rely less on work-site enforcement, focusing instead on employers who hire illegal immigrants and overall immigration reform.

ICE agents rounded up 25 men and three women at the engine shop, all Mexicans except for a Honduran, a Salvadoran and a Guatemalan. Except for three people freed on humanitarian grounds, those arrested are at a detention center in Tacoma, awaiting deportation proceedings.

In a statement Tuesday, ICE officials said many of the people obtained the jobs using fake Social Security numbers and other counterfeit documents.

Shirin Dhanani Makalai, whose family owns the business, said the raid came after months of cooperating with ICE on an audit, which included providing employee rosters to federal authorities. She said the business does not advocate hiring illegal immigrants.

"We try to stay within the guidelines, within the law," Makalai said Tuesday.

Makalai added that the company did not knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and that employers have no clear way of checking an employee's legal status.

While you keep your focus on the fruit picker, the government provides H-1 visas to import workers that employers and the government claim there are no americans qualified to do. Plus they provide an education for non-us students to get degrees in the very fields, they claim americans cant do.

So they get you coming and going and you remain unemployed and angry at the fruit picker. I dont know why we have colleges since americans arent qualified. Maybe because the non-us students can get qualified.

I did want to make another point. Non-documented workers dont taxes but even if they did, the pay is so low they would get a refund anyway. The amount of taxes collected thru pay from non-documented workers is in the millions. Since they cant file a return, the government just pockets the money but says nothing to the public, it is extra money. What usually happens with an assumed ssn, is a person sees unexplained earnings on their record and reports it to SSA. Then SSA unscrambles the earnings and credits the unexplained earnings to the government.
