No on 2, and yes on 3 because the swamp cooler fan needs to push the air through the house.

Or just open all the windows and you don't need the cooler.
My gawd. Open the windows with no cooling at all when it's almost 100 degrees outside?

We hit 96 here in Alamo yesterday, and EP was 99.

I worship at the altar of my refrigerated air every day.

Yea visiting family and friends in ELP in the summer is the pits. When are spoiled with the refrigerated air. Those swamp coolers are a drag and make our visit to each home a brief one.

Sis lives just south of Austin, and I don't visit in the summer if I can help it. The humidity just kills me. I miss HEB and Central Markets, though.

It all depends on the location on the construction of the house. Refrigerated Air was a must in my old house. Swamp coolers are just fine in my new home. No biggie.

Yesteday was such a gorgeous day here, I spent very little of it indoors. When I did, it was cooler inside than outside and there was a nice breeze going through -- I like that more than the feeling of air conditioning, even swamp coolers which make things more humid.

Today should be another very nice day. Too bad the weekends are so short.

smooth-the dry heat sounds better then this humid mess here in Austin that we have to sometimes hibernate indoors with the a/c on.

Oh, it's definitely better than Austin's.

It just depends on whether you can stand oven-hot or sauna-hot. Oven-hot IS more tolerable, but........

I never visit Sis in the summer (just south of Austin).

We spent the day in Dripping Springs and ofcourse the kids wanted to play outside. Ugghhh that humidity just drains the strength out of you.

Well, I'm glad you like it hot, because you certainly are in the right place for it.

My refrigerated air, 100% tile floors and 52" ceiling fans keep me comfortable. I can set my thermostat at 75, and it's just right.
