Airborne, damn good point about the flooding. I am only familiar with the flooling in the Upper Valley. We didnt look for a house there because while they are very nice and more land, it is prone to flooding. We actually picked 5 houses on the internet, spoke with folks about the area, flew down for a weekend, picked a house, arranged for an inspection and then cam back back for another weekend and closed. The unsual thing for us that the seller doesnt have to be present for the closing. Back east, the seller and buyer sit together and get it done.

I just looked at the maps for you, the only place that floods in horizon, and that's based on 100 years is the area directly north of lake horizon, they dont really make flood maps easy to read and understand online but I looked at em all.

one more question if ya'll don't mind ~ is it reasonable for someone stationed at bliss to live in horizon city? Are there other military folks out there now?

It's reasonable to live in Horizon, only problem I noticed when traveling in that area, it has very heavy traffic probably because it is near to a border entry point for trucks and several trucking firms on edge of east el paso. I would guess 45 min drive. As for military living there, I dont know. May be Airborne is more familiar. It was more like flurries yesterday. It is actually in the lopw 30's this morning. But it usually is warm by 4 pm everyday.

ok and by 45 minute drive you mean just cuz traffic is so bad? I mapquested an address in horizon city and it said 18.6 miles to fort bliss ~ so it must just be cuz of traffic right? thanks :0)

I would say because it is the distance but with traffic would take longer. I estimated 45 minutes because I like to travel speed limit of 60, motorcycle cops show up now and then. But if you really like the house, just leave a little earliar.

not to sure about the drive from horizon to bliss, I never was stationed at bliss just visited. I have been in for 22 years though and I can tell ya, I've lived kinda far from post sometimes and it was worth it to be a part of a regular community. It also looks like there is a few different options to get to bliss from horizon, can either go I-10 or Montana. I haven't been there in like 4 years but Montana is a big 4 or 6 lane road. Also, PTstarts when most people are getting out of bed or just leaving for work so traffic at 0500-0530 probably isn't bad but at 1630-1700 traffic sucks everywhere I ever lived so I'm sure El Paso isn't any different. By the way if I get a high VA disability rating and we both live in horizon, I cut grass for cash! lol.

PS: 30 days until imma el pasoan till I die!
