I live in Colorado currently I have a 5yo son who is severely disabled and I get paid to be his CNA here in Colorado through a Home Health Agency. Its like a regular job I get paid hrly. and weekly with all the Benefits you can imagine.....Its really AWESOME!!....I was wondering if Texas has some kind of program of that sort I have a friend who is relocating to El Paso who has a Disabled son as well and hates the fact that she will now have to work and pay childcare for her son if there is no such thing in Texas like there is here in Colorado.

I know they do when your disabled child turns 18, but you have to get on a very long waiting list for the funding. My son is 19 and we are still waiting. Not sure about minors.

The child should get social security benefits that are paid to the parent.

Here is the web link to Texas Dept of Human services. They may be able to answer your question. Health and Human Services Commission

There is also a number to call regarding help in texas. In texas it is 211. Outside of texas it is 1-877-541-7905.

For info on state benefits you can call that number and select option 2 and/or try
www.yourtexasbenefits.com

Hope this helps.

The social security benefits are SSI different program from SSA benefits. Based on financial need and disability of the child until age 18, then the child files a new claim.

I'm the caretaker for both my parents. My Mom has advanced-stage Alzheimer's disease and is 100% dependent on me for everything, including feeding and bathing. My Dad is in the preliminary stages and is mostly dependent on me. I take care of them full-time, I don't have a paying job. Love doesn't pay the utility bills, I know because I've tried.
