My advice for those who have children with mental disabilities:

Educate yourself about all state benefits that are available.

Get on every state benefit waiting list that exists.

The waiting list for HCS is up to 10 years long.

Hi Pat, I don't know if you are still here in El Paso, but I am active duty military just assigned to the area, and have a 7 year old son with autism. I'm trying to find out where to go to get my son enrolled in the services he needs, as well as trying to find a school for him. I realize school starts on the 23rd, but I have gotten no help from the base, and all my research has led me nowhere. Thanks. Hi there my name is Teresa and I’m moving to El Paso TX in 2 months and I have a 13 year old who will be starting high school up there. She is diagnosed with autism. And has and IEP. Her home school will be Montwood high school . I’m wondering? Those montwood night school have a special education program for kids with autism?
