Default Pellicano Drive

Im just wondering if anyone is familiar with this road, and can it be used as sort of a "short cut" to Horizon City? And Paseo Allegre? Thanks in advance

I think Pellicano connects to both Darrington and Joe Battle, but I'm not sure if all of the section of Pellicano east of Joe Battle is paved.

hmmm. I believe Pellicano ends at Joe Battle but I can be totally wrong. Havent been in that area in a while. Although I do know that if you go up a street and take Rojas that will take ou to Horizon. By way of Eastlake.

It's a shortcut lots of people use and I think it's paved all the way but if it isn't it's still a good road. I drove it last month and honestly don't recall so it must not have made any difference. Just drive it yourself it's not very long and it really cuts commute time.

You are correct. Taking Pellicano east of Loop 375 is a "short cut" to Horizon City.
Pellicano east of Loop 375 has been paved for over a year now. It is a two lane road which after traveling three miles intersects with Berryville St. Turning right on Berryville St. will take you into Horizon City. Berryville St. turns into Darrington Rd. after two miles as you travel towards Eastlake Dr.

It is indeed a shortcut vs. Rojas or I-10, but be careful. The road is used by trucks from the quarry on Pellicano and they routinely go far below the speed limit. Get caught behind one or a fleet of those and the "shortcut" can take forever. Also, be wary when crossing the loop on Pellicano as the two lanes immediately shrink down to one and there is a communal mailbox directly in front. This whole area from the loop to Eastalke shows the reactive approach to infrastructure that plagues the El Paso area. They finally built lights at Darrington and Eastlake, but the traffic on Pellicano and Berryville can be horrendous at times. There is more than enough room to extend all the roads in the area, but the local pols have little political will or brains. The El Paso Times recently ran an article talking about the traffic overload (http://www.elpasotimes.com/newupdated/ci_13019918 - broken link)on Eastlake and the problems caused by not having foresight, vision or a plan. Even my five year-old knows that if you build hundreds of houses in an area then that means hundreds of cars are going to use the roads...kind of a no brainer.

I timed it both ways going from horizon to east side using pellicano and going all the way down Horizon blvd to I-10. I used chicos tacos as the refference point on George Dieter . going down pellicano from horizon was only 1 mile less but took an average of 10 minutes longer because the speed limit on most the trip on the back road was 35 mph. still nice to take the back way in the later evenings after shopping like at the walmart on zaragosa. The road is in better shape than rojas, i hate driving down that road.
