Im just curious what you all think is the best Walmart to shop at? I hear they all have really bad reputations around E.P. Also, for anyone in the mililtary ~ will I be able to get on post to use the commisary even though Im going to be there a few weeks before my soldier and then we'll be on leave for a month? Or do i have to wait until were all signed in?
THANKS

They are all overrun by our "visitors" from the south.

Any Wal-Mart in El Paso at 4 in the morning is great because basically it's a crapture to shop at Wal-Mart any day from 7 in the morning to midnight and they start restocking from 1-3.
And even though the Transmountain Wal-Mart is farthest from the Border, it had won the award for Busiest Wal-Mart in the state of Texas (used to be the nation a while back)
So basically stick to shopping in the early morning, or Neighborhood Wal-Marts are pretty nice too.
And for the Comissary, As long as you have a DoD issued Military I.D., you can use the comissary. I believe they are building a larger comissary pretty soon too, so that will be a big upgrade from Wal-mart.

Here is my two cents regarding El Paso's Super Walmarts.
1. The NE Walmart is very busy. That is the simplest way to put it. If you hate crowds, and if people speaking Spanish bothers you, skip the NE Walmart.
2. The westside Walmart is also very busy but not as bad as the NE. You have to remember that the westside and NE only have one Super Walmart. So they tend to be crowded most of the time.
3. The Cielo Vista Walmart seems to have more shoppers from Mexico than any of the others - including the Alameda Walmart. This does not bother me or affect me in any way, but it seems to be a big deal to a lot of people on this particular forum. The Cielo Vista Walmart is one of the cleaner Walmarts in town.
4. The Yarbrough/GWW and Zaragosa Walmarts are both clean and are not too busy. It helps that the eastside/LV has 4 Walmarts.
5. To get in and out, I recommend the Alameda Walmart. Again, if Spanish speakers bother you, skip this one. Spanish speakers don't affect me in the least, so I will use this Walmart quite often.
Just my two cents.

I grocery shop at Walmart or Super Target because of the prices. If I am in a hurry I go to Big 8. I try to avoid Albertsons due to their prices.

I hate the Walmarts here in El Paso, I try in stick with the targets.
I also shop at the comissary most of the time.
If I need to go to a walmart I will only go to the one at transmountain.
again look for the targets here they are very nice.

So are you coming from fort Lewis? because that is where we want to go when dh gets back from deploying in 8-2010.
I have heard nothing but good things about Lewis, we have some friends there now, the only draw back there is the cost of living.
Target is great here, PX is ok, Jc penny is good, sams club is ok.
Albertsons is over priced big time.
