Default A public lake near Horizon City blvd ????

Is thier still a public lake for boating near Horizon City Bouvalard ? I know that in 1965 appox. Horizon City made a lake but the first one dried up & then they built a lake & only Horizon City owners could use it but then I heard that they had to open it to the public . Is it still being used or is it not there anymore? Is there a A.T . & T.electronics manufacturing co. across the border, near I-10 highway? Thank you for all replies.

Here's a thread from this forum that may answer your questions about the lake in Horizon. Can't help you on the AT&T question though.

Horizonite-----Thank you very much for your response and information . I lived in El Paso 1961 thru 1964. My husband was at Fort Bliss. Horizon City staged a showing of what they would become. at a free hot dog and bean picnic promotion. They were selling lots They had the golf course and 15 homes and 5 of those were model homes . I try to stay up-dated. Maybe my grandson or great grandson might do something with my lot in years to come. When I lived there, I became aquainted with a man from Illinois, who had been sent there for his crippleness. He walked with 2 canes and was all bent over but after 3 years in El Paso .He became a new man & vowed to never leave El Paso . His relatives had to come out there to see him. I understand that the first Horizon city co. people went broke and that a lot of people could not get a clear title to thier property. I have not returned to the area since 1976. I enjoy reading your forum comments.
LollyLou

I remember going out to the lake with my mom and dad during the mid 60s as a kid and also going to the stock car races(you can still see the racetrack oval using google earth) and you used to be able to locate the lake also but the more recent satellite pictures do not show it or Icannot remember the correct location. Also the original horizon city golf clubhouse has been demolished ( Iwas there in 2006 and it was standing)

Google Horizon City, Texas; click on the map; and move the map to the right (east) a bit. The lake is clearly visible. It's on the north side of Horizon Boulevard almost all the way out to the Hudspeth County line. There's three islands in it.

Default thanks

found it! thanks for the info. I remember it being closer to ranch road(not as far north) what memories. Can anyone remember the name of the racetrack or have any info on it. My dad sold real estate in horizon city back in the sixties and we would go watch races a lot!

I think you might be talking about El Paso Speedway. I believe that's on Marina Drive just north of Montana in Montana Vista.
