I just realized that Wet N Wild hasn't built any new rides or anything in a while? what's up with that? and Western playland? are they planning on improving their "park" anytime soon?

When you are the only game in town and have no competitors, why would you improve in any way? WnW and WP are just like UTEP, Time Warner Cable, and other companies that don't have any real competition, so you play by their rules. If there was another cable company in town, I guarantee that TWC would have lower rates, better channels, better service.
Wet N Wild has the same mentality. They have no competition for water parks and they know that most El Pasoans will still continue to go their park no matter what. That's what happens when you have no competition. If you want anything done about it, don't go to the park. As revenue and visitors continue to dwindle, maybe the management will do something about it, but since its El Paso, they probably won't.

Well then you aren't missing much. It was barely enough then and now it's not worth the drive to Sunland Park for the little carnival it is now.

You can combine this thread with alot of other threads...all have the same theme. Fakeguy says it well so I will qoute him:
"When you are the only game in town and have no competitors, why would you improve in any way?"
This will NOT change in ELP until the majority start to take action. When my fellow ELPASOANS gonna get sick and tired of the same old mentality that has prevailed in our city for decades?
For me it took having to leave Chuco to realize this.
WAKE UP!! New elections in the horizon....TIME FOR CHANGE!!

I think we are somewhat crossing the issues here.
Also, it is a double edged sword. If we avoid our amusement parks because they have not improved, other companies might stay away because they see the current ones not making money. They might not see it as El Pasoans voting with their dollars. A ton of communication is needed.

Never had a desire to go to either park....my kids don't even ask about them despite tv and radio commercials. They grew up on Disneyland their whole short lives, so anything here will pale in comparison. Haven't heard anything great about WP and I understand that they allow beer at W & W? Is that right?

This is one of those things you have to be fair about. Of course Western Playland is no Disneyland. But only two cities in America have a Disney park. I know everyone is going to say I am the problem - but at least we have an amusement park. At least we have a water park. Not every city does. Yes, they should continue to improve and make our dollar go farther though.

True, not fair to campare the Disney behemoth to WP, but I haven't heard anyone really say it's a must see. I do agree, to keep our local dollars local, places like WP need to invest in themselves to keep the local populace interested. I have never really been a water park kinda of person, but the thought of alcohol consumption at W & W with kids present does not bode well with me.
