Snow? What is this snow you speak of?

Jk. If you're used to snow you'll be disappointed. We hardly ever get snow around here. I couldn't even tell you how much. I believe there was some at the end of last year but Im not sure. Sorry...

We at least get a dusting once or twice each winter. The weekend after Thanskgiving 07 we received 5-7 inches in the city itself. The most in several years. So its not really that rare to see snow in El Paso. Remember we are at somewhat of an elevation. There are some pretty neat pictures of that snowstorm somewhere in that photo thread if you look around.

I remember when it snowed over 20 inches back in 1987. Then I remember when it snowed in April in 1983. My Ross Junior High yearbook is full of pics of that day.

Don't bother bringing a snow shovel if you're coming here.

Snow is rare, it may snow a half an inch but will usually be gone once the sun rises. I also saw the good snow storm in the 80's -- but even that lasted one day.

What is really great about here -- if you like snow, there's usually some just a couple hours drive from here. You can always go enjoy a day of it and then come back to the sun.

So where are the best places to find snow that are within a few hours drive of EP then?

About two to three hours away is Ruidoso (Ski Apache) and Cloudcroft. About 4 to 5 hours is Santa Fe.
