Thumbs down We don't need another bridge...

We don't need another bridge... we need more lanes open.
The new and improved downtown bridge now has 11 gates. I spent well over an hour on the bridge (on the bridge - not backed up into Juarez) this evening, 9-10:30pm, approx and watched ICE close 3 lanes leaving only 3 open. The wait time website still claims that 6 are open tonight.
If they can't fund daily operations then there's no point spending more capital.

Note the 3 green lights in the photo below. (& Star On The Mountain)

I agree. Another bridge in the lower valley would impact the neighborhoods too much. And you're right I never see all the lanes open on any of the bridges. Why have them? They need to just open and use what they've got already.

Not gonna get better anytime soon, at least until the inspection process becomes more efficient and thorough. I say part of the solution would be to build more lanes and dedicate express lanes for those willing to pay $. The Stanton DCL already exists, but it is wildly expensive and the application process is horrendous (the presumption is that you're a terrorist / narco and you must beg and plead for a reason to have a DCL pass). I only cross about 1-2 times/mo., but would happily pay $5-$10 to avoid a 60-90 minute wait.

Default Toll?

You're talking about a toll only, right? I don't think the US can charge its citizens for re-entering the country.

Yes, I meant toll for the road, not entering.

It's only $1.55 - and there is a free bridge, but if you are only going to Juarez Ave then there is no need to drive.

And you go to Japan once a year? Is a buck fifity-five really too high? Skip the double orders of tacos at Chico's and it will pay for itself.
