Plaza Classic Film Festival
The same hosers who complain there is nothing to do here are also the same people who would never support such a great, great festival.
The Plaza theater is about to start the 2009 Plaza Classic Film Festival.
Plaza Classic Film Festival - August 6-16, 2009 - El Paso, Texas
There is definitely something for everyone. Check out the movies they were able to book. Very, very impressive.

Great line up, but the movies I want to see with my kids are at times inconvenient to our schedules. I would like to see Star Wars, but the 6pm on a weekday makes it hard to pick up the kid and get back to downtown and the 130 for Willy Wonka on a Tues is in the middle of the workday...wish they had two showings for this, including a weekend. Maybe they will add on showings like they did for Wizard of Oz last year.

Odd that you mention that. Ticketmaster has Star Wars listed twice. 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The Plaza only has it listed at 6:00 pm.
This is a huge booking. Lucasfilm rarely allows anyone to screen the original Star Wars. There has been one other screening this year and that was in George Lucas' home town of Modesto.
I would also like to see Terminator and Superman on the big screen.

I bought seven tickets to Star Wars this morning. I can confirm there is a 9:00 pm showing as well as the 6:00 pm.

My wife has tickets for Gone with the Wind. We were not able to get for Star Wars because our schedule does not allow it. It is a good deal and great thing to see some old movies on the big screen again.
You have a great day.

I think they need a John Hughes marathon now.

I agree with the the OP. This is one of the things that El Paso does right! BTW, I am a volunteer for this festival.
