Could anybody tell me a bit about any quiet walkable neighborhoods in East El Paso area; I am looking at renting in an area called Ranchos Del Sol in east versus Veteran's Park and Devils Tower area north-east closer to Beaumont. Relocating and will be working at the VA in Beaumont. It will be my husband, myself and 2 dogs. Any other areas to recommend in the East?

Thanks,

Heba

By Devils Tower I think you mean Mountain Park, which would be the neighborhood around the western end of Titanic Avenue, high on the mountain. There's a street called Devils Tower Drive in it; many of the streets in it are named for national parks/national monuments out West (Devils Tower, Big Bend, Mesa Verde, Gran Quivira). I haven't been there in a while but I don't remember it as particularly walkable (to stores). There might have been some stores established down the hill on Alabama Street that weren't there when I was there.

I seem to remember that the neighborhood around Veterans Park (Rushing Drive at Salem Drive) is also distant enough from most stores to where you'd probably need to take the car.

I believe Ranchos del Sol is just west of Joe Battle Boulevard between Rojas Drive and Pellicano Drive around Loma Verde Elementary School. I don't know much about it.

Well, the Mountain Park neighborhood is off the main drag and has lots of streets that wind up and down fairly steep slopes. You've got Rushing Drive running through the Veterans Park neighborhood and traffic might be a consideration on it. Maybe on Bob Hope Drive in Ranchos del Sol also.
