Colin L Powell Elementary School
Anyone have a contact number for this school or info on school uniforms. I am not sure when our adoption process will be final (it's easier to finish it here before we move than start from scratch in Texas frankly) but I would like to be ahead of the game and get prepared so we can have a smooth transition. Thanks in advance for the info.

It's still under construction so your best bet would be to contact the school board.

Oh she gave me the impression it was open already when I spoke to the lady from housing. Thanks for the info and I'll be sure to make that call Monday morning.

Actually, Powell is open already (when school started in EPISD on Monday, August 24 was the grand opening for Powell and for Tom Lea Elementary). They've been updating the EPISD website, so if you keep checking it this weekend, you may find the phone number for Powell has been put on the school's page before Monday morning. If not, then the people at EPISD Central Office can tell you what it is.

where is this school anyway...my father taught there in EPISD for 45 years..that is a very long time...

Powell is on Fort Bliss. It's on Ellerthorpe, off Dyer near Chapin High. |

That I am aware of there are no uniforms. I could be wrong but I do not think so.

Not yet. That may change, as EPISD authorizes them on a school-by-school basis below the high school level. I think a majority of the parents of the kids going to the school have to approve uniforms and then the board of trustees has to approve them also. It's not an automatic thing that's imposed district-wide. |
