So my friend wants a gun...
I told him lets go to a range and get him some time around them first (he's never touched one in his life) . Where is there a range where I can take him. I know there is one by Ft. Bliss but can anyone go? Anyone know where he can go rent one and get some practice/training in before he shoots himself?

Look into EPCC Mission campus. I think they have a range that is now open to the public.

Yes it is. It's the ft. bliss rod and gun club. I used to go there when I lived in EP, it's actually nice range with a "clubhouse" type of building with a restaurand and BAR (not sure if it's a good idea to have liquor and guns but oh well).

Look, who needs a fancy gun club? Just do what I did as a teen and drive out to the middle of the desert and shoot whatever you want. I've pumped 1000's of rounds into discarded refrigerators in my day. Just make sure you're not on private property.

I actually did this more then go to the range. That's the advantage of living in EP since you drive 20 minutes outside the city limits and be in the middle of nowhere. Here in Houston area it's impossible to find any sparsely populated area that is NOT private property so I have to go to a range, which by the way is kind of expensive in my opinion.

Take him to play paintball and he can get practice shooting at real people.

Thanks for all the responses, I think I'll take him to Ft. Bliss first.

I think we'll save that for when he gets some time with one first. He's never held one and Im hoping they have some sort of class. There is no oops with guns...

Sorry, Paintball guns and real guns are soo very different. I use both and one has nothing to do with the other, apples and oranges.
