For the last several weeks I've seen people out selling turtles around Horizon (Eastlake/Darrington and Darrington/Pellicano). I'm 99% sure this is illegal Pet Turtles: Cute But Contaminated with Salmonella

Why don't the police do anything?

Have you called the police to find out?

For the same reason they don't do anything about the homeless people at every corner in town, they don't care. They're too busy setting up check points worrying about something even far worse/dangerous... the very scary, evil uninsured driver .

I saw that. That hummer had to cost plenty, I think I'll go into the turtle selling business. Just like the pirated CDs they're selling at the flea markets and out of their nice big cars in store parking lots, who cares what's legal or not around here? Legal doesn't seem to matter.

That said - the turtle selling doesn't bother me as much as the dog breeders breeding their dogs right and left to get $10 a puppy out of store parking lots, flea markets, and from the side of the roads. This city puts thousands of these dogs to death every year but the irresponsible breeding of dogs and cats goes on and on.

Turtles, dogs, cd's, burritos...

There isn't much that people don't sell on the side of the road here in El Paso. It is a wrong but hey lets not lie we all take advantage sometime. I saw chihuahua puppies going for $40 each outside Walmart. I ended up getting both for $40 . I take care of them and they have their shots and won't end up in the street (they even have insurance ) but I know this isn't always the case...
