they had big steaks for very little $$$$. I have very fond memories of going there with my dad and he letting me have my first beer.

Default Can't say I miss anything, but I do remember....

"Fiddy-cent" hair cuts and being scared shytless by the guy sharpening his blade, then going to my neck with it!

Walking into a bakery and being welcomed with the aroma of fresh Francesitos bread, and sneaking and eating one or two before crossing the bridge. The Pan Dulce was also good!

Stopping just prior to crossing the border and buying the wooden cases of Coca Cola, and/or Orange Crush... 'couldn't sneak those, they had the old tops which required bottle openers.

The roasted corn with chili powder, and butter.

Watching the dude whack the avacados and pulling out the seed with one blow... that was a skill with that sharp knife!

Going to a restaurant after church with the entire family, food, sodas and parents had beer, and remember my parents paying the entire bill with a $20.00 bill... and getting change back!

Parents buying us handfuls of Chiclets Gum form the pedestrians on the bridge.

Getting home from Juarez and watching TV and enjoying the sodas we purchased earlier.

How innocent Juarez seemed back then.

$10? Man, it was $3 when I was at Coronado; and that just wasn't that long ago.

I don't wish I could do it again at this point in my life, but back then? Good times.

$3 D&D made for a great night in HS.

The mercado, the clubs on weekend nights, the home-made food vendors, the girls...

I remember back in the mid 80s, when there was some civil unrest because of contentious elections (PRI and PAN stuff) and we thought it was "dangerous" to go over the bridge at that time. That seems so minor in comparison to what is going on over there today.

I miss going to the bus station over there and hopping on a bus to head somewhere south, like down to Chihuahua or beyond through the little towns along the way. Being able to get to Chihuahua and then onto that train to Los Mochis through the Copper Canyon, then to Matzatlan. Or getting back and coming into Juarez knowing home was close.

Or sometimes just going over there to buy blankets or something and stop in a diner and have a real coca cola made with real sugar.
