My Husband and I were thinking of moving back to Colorado, but recently we found out most of the family is moving back to El Paso. Since my family is from El paso/juarez through marrage it makes sense to move near by since it's a huge family and I think it would be better for us to stay near everyone.

My husband asked me yesterday what I thought about moving there, so I thought I would look at some houses online first to see what we could get. We currently live in Dallas and hate it and moving out, I have been to El Paso and I loved it, so I am not worried about the same problems as I have in Dallas.

Personal Suggestion:

79938 - Far Eastside, fastest growing part of town. LOTS of new housing, schools, traffic. 30 min from Downtown

79925 - Central ELP, never lived there but seems like a good pick. Lots of older houses/neighborhoods that are kept up very well. Near Cielo Vista Mall, Ft Bliss, parks, schools, etc etc

Really depends on the lifestyle you seek. The East side has more stores, malls, places to eat, but with it comes the traffic congestion and for me, hectic. The West is more laid back with homes and just enough places to eat or shop. I dont have school age children, but from what parents say, the better schools are in the west. Anybody with children, wanna provide some insight?

If youre looking for a slower pace and low property taxes, you might want to consider Las Cruces. Some people are recommending Horizon and that is experiencing a lot of new growth.

I looked on realtor.com eariler this morning and found 3 houses I liked that were in the 79912 area. I don't know anything about the schools though. I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old, so that's something I need to consider.

If you are looking at public schools I'd suggest feeder elementary schools for Franklin High School.

I had to look that one up- Horizon City area. I was recently out that way and was impressed by the development east of Joe Battle & the shopping options around Joe Battle. Don't be fooled by all the roads you see on the map - most are just trails in the desert.

Default Elementary in 79912

Check out this (not so great map) for 79912 school attendance zones:
http://tippin.episd.org/lundy_zone_small.jpg (broken link)

Lundy is opening this February, taking students currently at Tippin, Guerrero, Polk and Kohlberg.

Most (if not all) elementary schools in this zip are rated recognized to exemplary.

Brown Middle school opened two years ago....the New Hornedo Middle is opening in August.

This is the Resler and Redd Road area of El Paso...they all feed to Franklin though Coronado is also near by.
