COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Hours after Alvin Greene was nominated by South Carolina Democrats to run for the U.S. Senate, the state's party chairman called Wednesday on the unemployed Army veteran to quit the race after it was revealed that he faces a felony obscenity charge.
Greene, a 32-year-old unemployed military veteran who lives with his parents, defeated Vic Rawl on Tuesday for the Democratic Senate nomination despite having run essentially no public campaign — no events, no signs, no debates, no website, no fundraising.
The result has baffled political observers, who had heavily favored Rawl — a former state legislator, attorney and prosecutor who had the edge inasmuch as he actually campaigned and tried to win.
Why do the democrats always try to run rough shod over duly elected candidates they don't care for?
I guess that anti-incumbent feeling is really strong out there! But the dude is obviously not going into any elected office. DeMint just won that post.
I just heard this guy on Fox. Unbelievable! Pending felony charges, forced out of the Air Force and he lives with his mom. This guy may represent some of the bottom-feeders in the Democratic Party but I seriously doubt he represents South Carolina.
Do the democrats DARE attack a black democrat (if he were a conservative black democrat...no problem).
