"The last 22 months have not been fun. Virtually all economists say it could have been worse, far worse, but that’s no consolation for how sucky it’s been for most Americans.

Normally, when a governing cycle has been bad, we throw the bastards out and bring in their challengers. This time, the Democrats have had the majority. I won’t say they’ve been in charge, because even with ownership of all governing branches of government, the Democrats have managed to chase their tails more than institute decisive improvements for America’s well-being".

"But if the Republicans’ singular goal for the next two years is to create an environment where President Obama loses, then it’s completely in the GOP’s best interests for the economy to get worse, for the jobless rate to increase, and, generally, for the next two years to suck as much or more than the last two years.

It’s in the GOP’s interest. It’s in Mitch McConnell’s interest. But having two more terrible years is absolutely not in America’s best interest".

Have you not heard any Republicans from leadership say that they know that they have to behave better than they did in the Bush days? They keep saying that they have to accept the responsibility for how they behave. I haven't heard any Democrats admit that they screwed up like they did. They may be running from Health reform, stimulus and some of their other mistakes but they don't seem to realize it was them that caused those things to be foisted on us. I think that now they will be able to sit back and see what they did.

Both political parties at various times have succeeded in screwing up our country to appease their own special interests. Things are so bad now that neither party deserves to be in control. They should all be shown the unemployment line!

What I've heard (from republican politicians, supporters and commentators) is stated in the article:

".......Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

"He did not say anything like the “single most important thing” is jobs, improving the economy, making America strong, or any other goal that implies caring about the country. Instead, his comment reflected the GOP’s strategy of scorched Earth: win, at any cost."

I don't care .. throw them all out ..

Conditions in this nation absolutely will not improve until, 1) We keep corporations from writing our legislation, 2) We forbid any law school graduate from running for office, 3) We place term limits on Congress.

Both parties are a cancer killing this country. The corruption has gotten out of control. Even worse is the propaganda being spewed from both parties and the MSM, swallowed whole by an ignorant general public. Instead of stopping the disease, we keep putting it in place to destroy us more.

Without #2, then who would run? Bored millionaires? Retired generals?

No matter who gets in, their staffs would be the same. And they are the ones that manufacture and read the bills, and consult on every item (or don't) and are just waiting for the big payday as a lobbyist.

The Dems ran a very poor campaign. They were ineffective in countering the consistent GOP misinformation machine.
