Webb's wasn't surprising, it was clear from the start he was likely just going to run for one term.

So far Flake is being talked up to run for the seat for the GOP, with some mention of Ben Quayle (who would be a disaster for the GOP). Giffords was thought to be a likely candidate before the Arizona tragedy.

Gabby to look at running, if she is able, can't imagine her losing. But, then again, that is the former State of Ariz.

The Fix - Gabrielle Giffords was planning possible Senate run before shooting

that was before the shooting. Yes, she is making excellent progress but it will take a lot more for her to run for senate.

I think much of it is going to depend on her recovery. Unless it becomes clear that she will not run in the near future, I don't think you will see any Democrats jump in any time soon.

I agree, but her recovery is still very much up in the air. she is doing exceptionally well: what does that mean? Who knows?

She's doing exceptionally well for a person who was shot in the head a few weeks ago, she's got a loooooooong road to go before she gains any sense or normalcy and even then she's going to have a very difficult time holding any public office due to the brain damage she'll likely live with for the rest of her life.

My feeling exactly. She does appear to be making an amazing recovery, but will it be enough? I think of James Brady before and after he was shot. He lived, also made a unbelievable recovery from a wound that was thought to be fatal, but he would not have been able to handle being press Sec or running for office. Just a campaign alone is very gruiling even if you are running for a local office.
