Giffords was expected to challenge Kyl (who has since stated he will not seek re-election) before the shooting. I think Napoliatano or any other AZ Democrat is going to hold off on getting involved until a decision is made by Giffords or until more is known with her recovery and if she would be physically able to run.

I think your right Smash255 and that would be the right thing to do, to wait and see the decision by Giffords and how she is coming along with her recovery, and if she would be physically able to run.

Napolitano like Hillary Clinton have had their Political carreers damaged by their posts in the Obama Administrations, both their political fortunes are tied to Obama and this is why Napolitano is finished after her term is over .

She would have been in a better position if she hadn't accepted her current position.

I hope that Giffords does recover and is able to live a full and healthy life, but she will not be able, nor should she, run for Senate, or even another term in the House. She was shot through the head, and it's a minor miracle she survived, and is even alert and conscious and speaking anything at this point. It will take her years to be able to be fully (or even mostly) functional again, and her injury is extremely likely to have an irreversible effect on her personality and health effects that will make a high stress job like a congressional representative entirely unhelpful for her long-term health.

Let her recover quietly, and to live her life in peace.
