Right you are. When he was governor, he supported efforts to extend Sharia-compliant financing for Muslims to buy homes as part of an effort to expand homeownership for minority households. He might not go on an Islamaphobic tear but this does make him vulnerable to attack from other primary rivals who want to exploit that wedge issue.

a republican governor in a blue state is irrelevant and means nothing. hell, mike beebe is a dem governor in arkansas and arnold was the governor in california.

no correlation imo between governor and traditional state political leanings.

I wouldn't say it means nothing. Someone who is elected in a state that leans the other way either did well with Independents or across party lines and that is something that could help in a national election. With that being said you do have circumstances when that person won because of a very weak opponent or bad campaign, or poor turnout. And you also have the whole Primary issue.

A Republican who wins statewide in Minnesota as Pawlenty did, can't really do so without campaigning in a certain way. In order to run for a GOP Primary he needs to campaign very differently. Pawlenty has gone SHARPLY right on social issues, he is now wearing his religion on his sleeve trying to embrace himself to the GOP Primary base. Of course if he did this running for Governor he would have won Bachmann's district and nothing else.

So basically now the advantage of having someone who has proven they can win in a Democratic state is thrown out the window, because Pawlenty has turned into the exact opposite of what helped him win there.

Why not, I don't know much about him but it seems moderate and good.
President Obama is ALREADY restoring America's glory. Too late, paw-paw.

you really can't compare AR with MN. AR has always leaned blue I will add. This past year is the first time since the Civil War the Republicans have had 3 State reps that are Republicans. We have more Democrat govn then Republicans, our senators are split and at the state level there are many more Democrats than Republicans. As for CA, they often have Rep Governors even though they are blue in almost everything else.

Who couldn't spend less than Barack Hussein Obama?

Who couldn't have a clearer stance on foreign policy?

Who couldn't be more transparent?

Who couldn't be better suited to grow our economy?

Who couldn't appoint a better Secretary of State?

Woof, Woof. Oh, my dog wants to come in.

Yup, even my dog would be a better and smarter President than the dweeb that all the lefties voted in.

If my dog could do it ... Pawlenty could do it. And even cut spending.

This is why the GOP field stands ZERO chance of getting elected. Because a respectable, scandal free candidate like Pawlenty gets shunned because crazy, foaming at the mouth idiots like Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh tear apart any one who dare to deviate from the GOP orthodoxy in the least. Pawlenty supported cap and trade at one time, so what? Newt Gingrich is a lying cheater, Sarah Palin lacks any real knowledge of serious issues, Mitt Romney wouldn't know what a conviction is if it hit him the face, and Mike Huckabee is confused as to where the President grew up. But no, those are the "serious" contenders. Give me a break. The GOP needs to grow up.

As a Republican and a moderate conservative I can tell you, what Michael Savage says will make absolutely no difference in the election. He is entertaining (well to some) but Republicans and independants do not take what he says seriously. Huck has almost said he isn't running (but he hasn't gone quite that far yet) Newt, you are right, about his personal life and yes, it is going to hurt him which is too bad, Mitt isn't going to get the nod and Sarah most likely will not run. The candidates that are going to make a differnce are: Pawlenty, Daniels, maybe our wonderful friend from Ohio and a handful of others, but none you mentioned will even be in the running by spring of next year.
