Would have much more of a chance if he did not have that ball and chain Palin wrapped around his leg. She killed him.

The Republicans were going to lose 2008 no matter what. Anyone other than McCain would have probably done worse.

Thumbs up to Jon Huntsman so far! He has my attention. I was beginning to think that I wouldn't be able to find a single soul to vote for next year...Republicans need a candidate with mass appeal to win "swing voters" and Independents and disgruntled Democrats...Someone who seems "too far out there" won't appeal to everyone. So far Jon Huntsman seems like a good bet. But it takes time to see all sides to each candidate.

Huntsman is too sane to win the GOP nomination. He should switch parties and run for Utah's Senate seat.

As a moderate democrat myself, I would seriously consider Huntsman over Obama (not saying I would vote for him right away) if he made it that far. Otherwise, the rest are way too extreme and just too unreasonable (Bachmman saying she can restore gas prices to $2, Perry accusing the fed of treason, and many of the other Republicans in there want to intrude into peoples' social lives instead of living up to their principles of individual liberty, etc.). It's unfortunately been a constant theme of the modern Republican party to intrude into peoples' lives by forcing the definition of marriage at a federal level (so hypocritical and frustrating to me) and just leaving the issue at a state level where it is right now. Huntsman and Paul would get a second look from me ... otherwise I find the rest of them to be complete goons.

Huntsman is smart. He sees the other GOP candidates fighting to see who can be the craziest and he is going to go after independents and moderates. It probably won't work, but it is the best option he has at this point.

It may be if enough democrats vote in the Republican Primary.

Yeah, he won't make it through the primaries. Not only is he not as well known as the other guys and doesn't have as much money to throw down ... to make it through the 2012 Republican primary you have to run on the extreme side these days.

He is starting to gain traction. While the others are fighting for the extreme vote, which is only 20%, Huntsman's biggest obstacle is convincing people that he has a chance to win. I think he has a chance.
