Orthodox Jews and Hispanics are overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage and Werpins vote supporting it caused them to vote Republican in that district for the first time in forever. How are Neo Progs gonna blame white Evangelical Christians for this one?

(Democrats are already blaming New York Democratic nominee David Weprin’s vote for same-sex marriage from when he was in the state Assembly for alienating Jewish voters.)

Nope!

Mayor Koch, maybe one of the most pro-Gay agenda mayors ever, endorsed Turner.

From Turner...

This district, which is as blue as an area can be— if we win this, it will send a clear and important message to the Obama administration on how they are handling a few things, and not to take the Jewish vote for granted.

What do you mean "nope?" I quoted an article. Plus all of the Orthodox rabbis sent out letters saying that it's a sin to vote for a candidate that supports gay marriage, and the local Hispanic congressman said he too couldn't support the Dem because of his stance of gay marriage. Obama's anti Israel stance and pro gay marriage stance did him in.

At least gay marriage was already passed in that state, they can't do much about that. These ultra religious folk need to realize this isn't Mexico or Israel. It is none of our business if consenting adults want to get married, this is a secular country where church and state are separate, people seem to forget that

What does that mean? They can't vote for a candidate that holds the same beliefs as them?

Sorry to agitate you so, but I disagree with your article. I live here. My parent's address is where I am registed to vote and I voted in this election. I have been keeping myself abreast of this for months and I happen to know what drove the vote in Turner's favor. Although I am not Orthodox, I have freinds and acquaintances in the very pro Israel communites. I understand their reasoning and motives. Mayor Koch would never endorse a Republican candidate if it were not for the Israel issue.

Anthony Weiner was pro-choice and pro-gay marriage and yet he beat Turner by getting 63% of the vote. Do the math.

You didn't agitate me. We'll just have to agree to disagree, no biggie.

It was about how they felt regarding Obama.
