The local radio station with political talk seemed to have the local hosts favoring Newt and/or Santorum. Always complimenting them and questioning Romney. Lately, they pour praise on Romney and hardly mention the other two. They went on and on about Puerto Rico, where they had downplayed previous wins as big or bigger.
The biggest thing is that the audio clips they play from time to time between segments now exclusively feature Romney. I haven't heard a Newt or Santorum clip in weeks. They even feature clips of Romney criticizing Santorum.
Illinois' rural areas, yes rural areas now favor Romney by 2 points according to PPP.
I think a big Illinois win would be momentum maybe not as much in Louisiana, but into non-southern states for April.
If the latest Il polls are close, Tuesday will be a tragic day for RS. The other two do not even exist as realistic options already.
I'm concerned about Santorum getting more desperate after his loss tomorrow and possibly saying a lot more to damage Romney. He's already said plenty.
I'm also concerned that he could get more momentum if he wins Louisiana on Saturday, which I sadly still expect. I think Romney winning LA would be wonderful but, then again, I'm afraid Santorum would just get even more desperate.
if RS goes postal, no big deal this early. Plus it will increase MR's vote in future states after La, which I do expect to follow the social warfare RS theme.
So in the long run, it will change MR's delegate lock date by moving it forward.

That is hilarious!
The GOP base has been behind the already chosen one, since this thing began. There is only 33-35% of registered voters, that identify themselves as the GOP base. Some states much more, some states much less, but overall, only the low to mid 30%.
You have the 3 stooges that will never get the independent voters in masses like they need.
Only one guy on the R side, can pull the independent vote that is needed to over take Obama.
Yeah I've noticed some of my Republican friends starting to get nervous about wasting time bickering with each other and dragging this out when the party could be taking on Obama.

The GOP base seems to be more behind Santorum than Romney.

Ron Paul polls far worse against Obama than Romney does.
A lot of Republicans would refuse to vote for Ron Paul.
Hatred of Obama overrides hatred of Mormons, I guess...
