I agree that there should be a separtation of church and state. I also believe that what Rick Perry stated about Israel, for him as a Christian is true. Aside from that reason to stand with Israel, we other reasons as well. It is naive to think we don't.
Then it's the other reasons that have to direct public policy in a Perry administration. If there is separation of church and state, then Perry cannot use his religious beliefs to direct state policy.
Perry and Bachmann and the rest of the "Dominionists" don't have a snowball's chance in hell of gaining any traction outside their evangelical and mainly regional "base".
Meanwhile, the irony is that Romney is probably the only GOP candidate actually capable of attracting any wider appeal, especially in the important urban areas. Trouble is, most of the "base" consider Mormons to be some sort of "cult" (which when you think about it, is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black...)!
BTW, I wonder if most folks are aware that Perry's and Evangelicals' support for Israel is really based on their desire to hasten the 2nd Coming of Christ (aka, "Armageddon" and the "Apocalypse")?!
Perry's TO-DO LIST as POTUS:
1. try to convert the Middle East
2. nuke Iran
3. await the Rapture....
That is so silly. Christians do not think they can have any effect on when the second coming will occur. The Bible clearly tells us that no one knows when this will happen and not to believe those who say they do. You cannot manipulate it.

Yes, those other reasons would be good to mention. It's not wrong to believe there is a Biblical reason either though. Some of us are tired of apologizing for being Cristians.
Do you know what the last thing is that goes thru Perry's mind just before hitting the windshield? His a$$, kind of the the Gnat, who has about the same attention span.

It's not wrong to believe there is a Biblical reason, but it IS wrong for someone who is running for a position in government where they will be responsible for directing policy to cite the Bible or religious beliefs as something they will rely on to formulate policy.
Which kinda reminds me of the infamous OTC Derivatives traders on Wall Street, who were actually betting on failure!
