You made the claim, no back it up.
Most employers advertise that they have great benefits and "provide insurance" also. In most cases it means you can BUY their insurance if you can afford it--not that they pay for all or even some of it. In cases of minimum wage, the premiums could easily exceed your income.

Would anyone claim that Jimi Hendrix did not have "the black experience"? He was born and raised in Seattle, lived in Vancouver BC for a while, and was part Cherokee.

Are there no black people in Hawaii to have "the black experience" with? Furthermore, are there no non-whites who would give Obama what is a large part of "the black experience"?

Is the "black experience" limited to the American South, or Chicago or NYC or Philly, or Oakland or LA? No one outside these areas is "as black"?

Why does Cain make so much out of race? Instead of saying "a real man" or "a strong man" in his contrasts with Obama, he's always injecting "black" into it. Is this supposed to be an election of "who's more black"?

For all the GOPers claims that skin color doesn't matter, they sure are rejoicing in using race as a qualification for office, trumpeting that their candidate is blacker than the Democratic candidate.

True. In many cases, one also has to work full time to qualify for bennies, and they take great pains to assure that one does not work enough hours.

Godfather's Pizza includes both corporate-owned restaurants and franchise-owned ones. The one above is a franchise location owned by a company that operates 5 Godfather's. It's up to them, not the CEO of Godfather's Pizza, to decide what benefits they offer. Furthermore, Herman Cain is no longer Godfather's CEO, so he had nothing to do with the above's pay or benefits package.

Seriously. Cain made his fortune off the backs of others. He could have at least offered them decent health insurance.

Having a shirt and delivery car provided is a benefit?? Not usually what I consider a benefit, just a tool you need to do your job. I also don't consider access to a cafeteria as a great benefit.

How rich did you want Cain to get?

Stats from 2007:

Quote:
Average CEO pay at the top 500 companies jumped 38 percent to $15.2 million in 2006 -- the year we broke the record for the longest period ever without a raise in the federal minimum wage.
Quote:
CEOs make more in 90 minutes than minimum wage workers make in a year.
Quote:
In 1980, the average CEO at a big corporation made as much as 97 minimum wage workers. In 1997, the average CEO made as much as 728 minimum wage workers.
Quote:
Last year, CEOs made as much as 1,419 minimum wage workers.
Quote:
Between 1980 and 2006, worker productivity went up 70 percent, average worker wages went nowhere, the minimum wage fell 32 percent, and domestic corporate profits rose 256 percent, adjusting for inflation
It's time to stop overpaying CEOs enough to keep their families rich for many generations to come at the expense of workers paid poverty wages today.

Any job that does not pay enough to be a livable wage is not even a job but just another example of exploitation. No one is saying that making pizzas should make you rich but it sure should provide the basics.

A modern society really has two options. Raise minumum wages to the point that anyone with a job can afford the basics or by offering social benefits to the working poor in effect subsidizing those tight wasd employers who don't pay a livable wage.

We have the compination of both of those concepts here in Canada. $10.75 an hour minimum plus free healthcare, daycare, meds, child tax credits, social housing and a whole host of other programmes.

So which one is it? When people fail is it their fault, or is it the government's fault? You can't have it both ways, unless you are a tea party fool.
