I wish they would split off into their own party. At first, it was a good movement when their motives were fiscal responsiblity and such. Now, a certain segment has been very devisive and more hurtful to the party.

They won't split off though, because they are like spoiled inconsolable children who like to whine and never are happy with anything. They also like to lean on the GOP money and organization and know they can't compete with that running a candidate of their own. Let's remember that these are the people who threw in with Sarah Palin and at one time she was their spokesmodel...she still is for some reason. Sarah Palin did nothing 'for the movement' but laugh all the way to the bank. The woman is a shill.

Right now the TP is 70 something percent of the Presidential vote, so who will be the loser if they did put up a single candidate of their own?

Yes, because Donald Trump is such a true conservative...lol. I am not even sure Donald Trump is actually a Republican. He supported Obama last time around.

However, some in the Tea Party could trot him out there and a lot of them are so uninformed about candidates they jump on the bandwagon for they would support him the same as they did Perry and now Herman Cain.

I'm a tea partier, and I'm not going anywhere. Your candidate Obama is going to lose.

You could only hope that I'm "slyly doing the work of the DNC." I think we have enough divisions in the party right now that we do a pretty good job of it ourselves. You tea party people have got to tone it down and learn to work with others, because you're never going to get everything you want, even from other republicans. When you've got visible conservatives from Joe Scarborough to Pat Robertson (a joke, but he has a following) calling your end of the party way too extreme to win a general, you'd better listen. Most Americans are CENTER right to moderate, not way off the deep end right.

I would like to see that myself. Also, many that identify as 'tea party' would not support a third party candidate. The support would shrink dramatically. That is why I wish they would split.

Probably more like a third of the R vote, but you pulled in traditional R's to get tea party candidates elected in 2010, and you're just louder than the rest of us. You also get more media attention--thoughtful consideration of issues and statesmanship doesn't make the front page like "999!" and building high voltage electric immigrant zappers.
