My wife didn't cross over because of Palin, but she did sit out. She is Mexican-American. Guess what the GOP did to lose her forever? Think Arizona, Alabama....
And the funny thing is the GOP's attitude towards this thus far has been, "Too bad, we don't need the Hispanic vote anyways."
No biggie. California isn't really considered American by the rest of the country anyway. And it's a foregone conclusion that California will vote Democrat.
Oh, and if the GOP lost her forever over wanting to enforce illegal immigration laws, then the GOP didn't lose anything worth having.

I hear you. It's really short sighted and I don't get it. I think the whole immigration issue is where the tea party's done irreparable harm to the party--we used to be more reasonable about it. Hispanic voters are going to be a majority in most states really soon, but they talk about them like they're all here without papers. You can't treat American citizens that way...it's not good.
They should, but as we all know the vast majority of the "Tea Party" is bought and paid for. They will likely Kowtow to Romney if he is the nominee, and whomever else freedomworks tells them to.
If the Republican Machine pumping for Romney, continues to tell the public through its media elite friends that Tea Party candidates (also known as everyone who is not Romney except for Huntsman) are not electable, then sets out to do in the non-Romney candidates by denigrating their ideas/history/campaigns, should the Tea Party leave the GOP and form its own party before 2016?
I know the argument will be that it will kill the Republican Party but my response would be, "so what?" How long do we keep settling for candidates that don't share our values/ideology just because they are supposedly more electable. I say they are more electable only because of the urban media elite is shilling for them and badmouthing everyone else to a general public that doesn't see what they are up to because they don't pay close enough attention.
I look at romney like this. All people in the republican party have to do, is to remind other republicans that obamacare is modeled after romneycare in mass. romney will never get the nomination then.

Okay, mb, please clarify your total point. I live in Alabama....and love the law that our Governor is enforcing regarding any and all who are here illegally!!

Apparently, it's "extremist" to think that enforcing reasonable and necessary laws is more important than pandering to particular voting blocs.
