If he's not drunk or under the influence of something, he's an idiot. This dude makes George Bush seem like a genius.

The reason his campaign staff gave is that he was talking off the top of his head and not using a prepared speech. The guy doesn't even know that the American revolution took place in the 18th century. According to Perry, it happened in the 16th century LOL what a moron LOL. Anybody still want this idiot to be president? hehehe. he's like a hybrid of George W Bush and Sarah Palin LOL

Perry's Cornerstone Speech Highlights - YouTube
holy cow: you can't seem to post anything positive about your candidate, only negatives, as you see them about the opposing side. Now, you say Obama is going to win hands down, have you forgotten there isn't even a Republican candidate yet??? There hasn't been a caucas or a primary. YOu may want to hold your predictions for awhile..

I'm pretty sure it was Brit Hume who said the people in the room gave him a standing ovation. Whoever mentioned it said the full speech video got something like 425 hits while the speech snippets video was in the hundreds of thousands.

He's actually more likable when he's shîtfaced. He should show up drunk to all the debates.

Of course they did. Watching that insane performance in person must have been very, very painful and they probably gave him the standing ovation because they were glad it was over.

Either that, or the ones who gave him the standing ovation are the same ones who were in the debate audience who cheered when the moderator noted how many people had been put to death under Perry.

I can't imagine how anyone can watch that video and not think there was something really, really strange about it is beyond me. Whether he was drunk or on pain medication or not on anything at all, it was just plain weird.

I watched the whole speech and it didn't make it any less weird. I do not know how anyone could see that and not be concerned for his well being. He was not drunk IMO, but something was definitely going on and it's not good. His affect was very off and even his speech was slurred at times. It's really obvious. This all reminds me of the story "The Emperor's New Clothes" for some reason.

I watched it as well: yes, it was a bit off the wall, but I didn't notice his speech being slurred at all.

This: Judge: daughter used video to exact revenge for taking her car - Houston Chronicle

is the final nail.

When I started the thread, it was the 8th inning and Perry was down by a good three runs.

This judge's actions have made the game unreachable for Perry.

The nation again sees as as "stoopid Texans" once again, I'm afraid.
