[quote=Evenstar51;21636411]Voters repeal Senate Bill 5, preliminary results indicate - Canton, OH - CantonRep.com

Quote:
As of 9:30 p.m., preliminary results showed that Issue 2 statewide and in Stark County would be defeated.

The Associated Press projected, based on these results plus exit polling, that the “no” vote would win. If that’s the case, Senate Bill 5, which the Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly passed in March, and which cuts benefits for public workers and curtails their ability to collectively bargain, will be repealed.
[end quote]

John Kasich has made a statement in which he admits the bill was defeated. It's a victory for Ohio's workers, and tonight Kasich acknowledged that one must listen to the people. It's another sign that sensible people are repelled by extreme positions.

it was not a win for workers in Ohio, it was a win for unions. it was also a loss for voters who now have to pay more to fund those public unions and their pensions.

I hope they don't end up like us here in NJ.

The public worker's unions are the fourth branch of our state gov't.

The people have spoken and I don't want to hear any whining going forward from folks in Ohio about taxes. Unions aren't cheap.

You mean the public option, which 75% of those polled prefer.

Yeah unions come at a price but i'm sure the people working in a union collective will happily pay that increase in taxes rather than go with the alternative.
