Newt Gingrich made between $1.6 million and $1.8 million in consulting fees from two contracts with mortgage company Freddie Mac, according to two people familiar with the arrangement.

There's a big difference between $300K and between $1.6 million and $1.8 million.

I'm not a liberal yet I'll bash him too. He is precisely what's wrong with our government and I don't give a damn if there's a D or an R behind his name. He's just another greedy, greasy-palmed politician bleeding the system for all he can get.

His primary contact inside Freddie Mac was Mitchell Delk, Freddie Mac’s chief lobbyist.

During that period, Gingrich consulted with Freddie Mac executives on a program to expand home ownership, an idea Delk said he pitched to President George W. Bush’s White House. Source

During that same period of time in 2002 the Administration was promoting expanded housing opportunities.

There is a huge difference between a strategic advisor and a lobbyiest.
A strategic advisor tells companies what they should be doing
A lobbyiest goes out and asks government to change policies.

Not even close.

To do what exactly? Newt is not a financial expert...his own finances over the years would tell you that, and he isn't a real estate expert that I am aware of...so what would Newt be doing to earn this kind of money?

He advised them on how to get poor people into homes. His advice: educate them to save and improve their credit ratings so they can afford a home. He had a program with the boy scouts to get this message across. Freddie didn't listen to his advice.
Freddie wanted him to lobby congress, he didn't. They wanted him to write a letter of support to congress, he didn't.
You want to talk about scandals let's talk Fast and Furious and Solargate.

The fact is, Newt was not a consultant. Any opinions he had weren't worth $30/mo. He was paid for influence and I see no reason to cover for him. Your not sharing in his fees.
Well of course, because YOU say so. Well, then....

Right, Freddie and Fannie. They wouldn't lie at all.

Funny, their exec that was grilled this week before Congress couldn't remember how much HE made in a year. But he remembers exactly how much Newt made all those years ago.

But you'd vote for Obama? Who's finances are FAR worse than Newt's?

Gotta love liberals.

Being affiliated with a terrorist (Bill Ayers) and a racist (Jeremiah Wright) didn't torpedo Oblama's presidential aspirations, so I doubt Newt's job will either.

Nice try though.
