A think tank founded by GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich collected at least $37 million over the past eight years from major health-care companies and industry groups, offering special access to the former House speaker and other perks, according to records and interviews.
The health center advocated, among other things, requiring that “anyone who earns more than $50,000 a year must purchase health insurance or post a bond,” a type of insurance mandate that has since become anathema to conservatives.
The group also pushed proposals to build centralized electronic medical records and use such data to research treatment effectiveness, both central features of President Obama’s health-care reforms.
Will Republicans now feel more comfortable with a health care mandate?
Well of course you have no idea what what health care ideas he promoted as a result of his work for the health care industry. If you do, please present them to us with documentation. Of course you won't because you can't. You will then come up with loony conspiracy theories. It gets tiresome, we've heard this all before. The poor left is simply trying to deflect from the Nixonian corruption of the Obama administration. Poor dears.
Too funny, as a source, the poster produces an article that claims Newts think tank promoted the idea, not the health care industry clients. So of course he wasn't paid to promote this idea by the health care organizations he worked with. This really is hilarious watching the sad little lefties trying to come up with something, anything, and failing so completely.
From the link.

Does this make you more comfortable with health care mandates? Two Republican candidates now seem to support many of the same health care ideas as the President.

Lol, I'm comfortable with his position on healthcare.
"1. Repeal Obamacare and pass a replacement that saves lives and money by empowering patients and doctors, not bureaucrats and politicians."
"In addition to the unconstitutional nature of individual and employer mandates, we are learning that they simply don’t work.
Their intractable problem is this: once you have a mandate, the government has to specify exactly what coverage must be included in insurance for it to qualify. This introduces political considerations into determining these minimum standards, guaranteeing that nothing desired by the special interests will be left out."
This he says after he makes $37 million proposing mandates. Mitt Romney mentioned the fact that Gingrich was one of the first to work on healthcare reform that included a mandate in one of the debates. Has anyone not wondered why Newt doesn't want to bring anything up about the other candidates? It's because there is so much more about him that isn't exactly conservative they can also mention.

Well of course Newt didn't make $37 million proposing mandates. His think tank made $37 million working with health care organizations. Of course the left needs to distort the truth to attempt to make something of nothing.
Perhaps you would like to support the idea of mandates. If they are such a wet kiss to health care, I am sure you are furious at Obama for proposing them.

Who do you think his 'think tank' is? lol...I am sure he didn't get a penny. You're last statement is one big conflict...I think you would need to clarify it for me to make sense of it.

Is a think tank founded by GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich considered a special interest?

I am sure he did get money, again so what? Where is the conflict? Gingrich was not in a legislative position when he provided services for the health care industry.
Lol, I am sure you don't get the last statement. Obama requires mandates, which helps healthcare companies, and Obama receives huge campaign contributions from the same. Yet not a peep from you.
Is a think tank founded by GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich considered a special interest?
Of course not. You clearly think so, yet you have yet to describe what the conflict is. We all know why you can't, none exists.
