The son of Texas Congressman and GOP hopeful Ron Paul – Kentucky Senator Rand Paul – appeared on CNN yesterday to discuss a recent op-ed he published in The Des Moines Register. The piece, which excoriated Newt Gingrich as a Tea Party “sell out” for his global warming commercials, support for cap-and-trade, and tenure as a Washington lobbyist, seems to be a desperate attempt to undermine the Republican frontrunner only three and a half weeks before the Iowa Caucuses. After writing critically about Newt’s incessant flip-flopping and willingness to abandon Tea Party principles, Paul left an indelible mark with this hard-hitting gem:

What would the Tea Party like about Gingrich? I can't see much that would make me want to vote for him, he seems like just more of the same, more globalist give-away of our jobs, more massive illegal immigration, Social Security for Newt's amnestied about-to-retire illegals.
The Constitutional Tea People that made up the majority of rallies in 2010, are informed enough to see that both Newt and Romney, are not Constitutional representatives. They are both Keynesian's. They are big spending, global corporatist. No word of getting a handle on the Fed, much less putting an end to the Keynesian fuel.
The media knows this very well.
It is the media that has painted the Tea People, that have proved to be the silent majority, as something they are not.
Because the media has never understood what 2010 was. They have been looking for a leader for the past 3 years.
There is no leader. We are all individuals and we lead ourselves.
the tea party likes anyone that can beat romney and will vote for anyone but obama.
throw mickey mouse up against obama, mickey mouse will win as long as mickey mouse is a republican.
this idea that the tea party is some bipartisan group is laughable. they used to be until they got hijacked by the neo cons. the tea party is essentially the far right of the republican party now. the old tea party is embarrassed by who these idiots are backing.
newt gingrich is the best this supposedly forward looking small government non-insider party can come up with?

You have been infected!
The people have not come up with Newt, the media has.
We are not looking for another McCain or GW Bush. They are part of the problem and we all know it. We want change from the status quo.
Only one has proven he is not the status quo.

GOP hopeful for what? I think, if you are talking Pres in 2016 or 20, it is a little early for him or us to even think about that. Now, let's see who he ends up supporting when his dad doesn't get the nomination. He can't play the Tea Party game and support Romney either. I am not sure what he will do or how much difference it is going to make.
