We wouldn't have to even discuss whether using diplomacy with terrorists works or doesn't work if we weren't over there in their countries meddling in the FIRST PLACE!

Wrong.

Islamofascism is incompatible with Western civilization. They would seek to destroy us whether we were "meddling" or not. You, like Ron Paul, just don't understand Islamofascism.

And yet you can provide no proof of this. Did you know there are many jews in iran?
Jews in Iran - YouTube Study a little about the culture, learn some history, and you'll discover we have more in common with the muslim world that one would think.

The Islamic extremists are fanatical and determined, there is no question about it. The trouble is, we've been parked on Arab soil full-time for almost 20 years. We have been trying to meddle and manipulate and create Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the rest of the Middle East in the image we want them to be. Iran in particular has plenty of reasons to hate us. We covertly overthrow their government in the 60's, try to impose a despotic leader -- the Shah -- on them, and after their radical Muslim revolution took over Iran, we seldom miss and opportunity to mess with Iran.

If you've ever seen the movie "Red Dawn" you have a pretty good idea how they see us. The common man in the Middle East doesn't trust us. The extremists view us as an overwhelming occupying for, and they are the guerrilla warriors fighting back against the evil occupiers.

The approach we haven't really tried yet is just leaving them all alone.

I don't hate Muslims, but the Middle East is mostly a huge Medieval world that has refused to grow up and join the 21st century forever. That particular Muslim culture there has trapped itself in the Dark Ages. High time we washed our hands of the entire region and left. All we have to gain there is oil and we might as well pump our own.

OTOH Obama does not understand market economics, and the unintended consequences of redistributionism and socialism.
No argument there.

Oh you have insight? You've discussed their reasons with them? You know more than the CIA? Wow! Do tell!

Are you stating that the entire Middle East is Islamofacist? That every Muslim is an extremist? Shall I call you Mr. Bachman?

As a left leaning independent. If the economy continues to tank, I might very possibly give Paul a chance.

Personally I think its done tanking...meaning that the drastic downward spiral is complete...the problem is that we have hit the bottom and have no plan in place to begin even the slightest improvement. So dont look for a bigger drop just to support Paul, instead realize that things just are not going to get better without implementation of some of the ideas he proposes. Things might still get slowly worse, but I dont think even more tanking is in order. Just my personal opinion though.
