so you'd be fine with having a person with without winning the popular vote? I thought this was supposed to be a democracy? Any president that wins without the popular vote has no mandate
The 49% is indeed an outlier, although it looks like Obama is probably up 2 or 3 points right now from where he has been. That's not a lot, but it's something. I'm guessing that it's due to the half-point drop in the unemployment rate.
That's still not good. W Bush was at 63% in Dec. 2003, the equivalent point in his first term, 11 months before he went on to barely eke out a win over a weak candidate in John Kerry.

This is true. He's seen a slight uptick in the polls, probably due to the fact he's not doing or saying very much.
The poll is still an outlier, it's slightly skewed and it's a poll of adults.
I know some people don't realize the difference, but they will when the pollsters change to LV/RV.
It's a race to see who can be the most popular of the least popular.
Republicans have no answer, either and it is becoming very apparent during the debates. What ideas have they come up with that aren't retreads? None. And the ones that do (Paul) are very divisive.
I think it's hardly a coincidence that Obama's trended up slightly since these debates came about full swing.
