I think criticizing Gingrich is like poking a dead cat with a stick at this point. But he keeps earning the jabs by reminding everyone what an a**-hole he really is.
A gay professor from William Penn College told the Des Moines Register he approached Newt at a rally and asked him how gay people can possibly support Gingrich's candidacy, given Newt's view on gay rights. The man said Newt replied: "Go support Obama"
So far, we only have the professor's account of the incident, and he admitted to the paper he's a Dem. But assuming it's true, it sounds like vintage Gingrich.
Gingrich may not care, but there ARE gay GOP voters across the country who are strong fiscal conservatives, and, dare I say, solid Christian "family values" types, who vote Republican in every election (one of them is a relative of mine).
And here's Newt telling these good Republicans to shove their votes, he doesn't want them!

Love how newt keeps shooting himself in the foot and the bad thing is, there are still closed minded people who support him.
It is actually stuff like this that makes those close minded people support him. If he had said something that expressed even the slightest hint of empathy for gays, the GOP base would have abandoned him overnight for someone willing to be more divisive and hateful. Newt knows the audience he is playing for right now.

And thats the main reason why I abandoned to GOP many years ago. Looks like I won't be returning anytime soon.

Frankly I'd never vote for Newt, but depending on HOW the message was conveyed I've got no problem with this. How is it a bad thing that a candidate would consider a person's personal situation and tell them "Oh, ok, I see where you are coming from, you will probably want to vote for the other guy then because my policies don't work for you"
Honesty and not trying to bow down to every special interest group on the planet is the way to go.
