That's because Ronald Reagan was not a Conservative. He was presented that way by his handlers, but in reality, he was a NEO-Conservative.

Every Republican nominee since then has been the same thing because that's who gets the money from corporate America, that's who gets the endorsements from bought and paid for journalists, that's who benefits from Neo-Conservative think tanks and focus groups and that's who gets the air time from supposedly "conservative" FOX.

The poor, true Conservative voters don't even know they're being swindled. Many don't even know what the roots of Neo-Conservatism were. They think just because it's got the word "conservative" in it, they must be far right.

Santorum would be neutralized into inefficiency by congress as members on both sides would be afraid to be associated with him out of fear of not being reelected.

I wouldn't exactly call that 'surging' but I figured he had to be the next flavor of the week. He's all that's left and hasn't had a turn at it.

That flavor is a creation of the left wing hate club members.

If he does rise they will do their normal attack and hate.

Santorum is "surging" the same way that a football team, down 45-3, is "surging" when they score a touchdown to cut the margin to a mere 35 points...

(not that I wouldn't appreciate the hilarity of a Santorum nomination, but I know I'll never get to enjoy such an amusing spectacle of a trainwreck as that!)

Santorum will never "surge." I think any of the GOP candidates can get elected, even Newt Gingrich under certain circumstances, except the two truly unelectable candidates in the field are Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann. Santorum could never get a majority, or even a high plurality in a contest, his moral majority uber right wing persona just doesn't play well anymore. And Bachmann, well I question whether she's mentally stable sometimes.

Santorum couldn't even win his own senate seat back. Why in the world would he think running for President would be a good idea? He is just not likeable.

I hope the Santorum surge keeps building momentum, if he is the GOP nominee it guarantees an Obama win and would be the death knell for the current Republican Christian fascist platform. It would be just what is needed to get the GOP back to a sane, more moderate party that might actually have a chance to grow instead of watch their membership shrink as the bitter bigots get old and die.

A surge of Santorum would be great as long as you don't get any on you. Santorum stains are the worst.
