Many Christ fundamentalists are coming out against the good Dr. because of his constitutional stance on Gay marriage and abortion, which would have the church and the state take absolute responsibility for the matters and for the Fed. Government to butt out.
Though Dr. Paul himself believes that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman, he also believes that people have the right to live and believe differently than he does, and that according to the constitution they are guaranteed the same rights as you and I regardless of whether or not we agree with their life style.
The fact is that the complaints lodged against Dr. Paul by the evangelical right are in fact veiled attacks against his defense of all of our personal liberties as are delineated in the founding documents of this nation.
However it is not hard to see that Dr. Paul, in spite of his constitutional stance which many christian fundamentalists attack him for, above all other candidates best represents in his policies the teachings of Christ.
In order to demonstrate this fact, allow me to call your attention to a little story that can be found in the bible, in the new testament, in the book of Luke ...
In this story Christ, along with his disciples, enters into Samaria(Palestine), which is today a very hot spot on earth. In that day the Samaritans were like our modern Arabs ... They claimed to be the original descendant of Abraham, and the true chosen people of God, while the Jews they claimed were imposters.
The Samaritans were considered to be the worst sort of people by the Jews of that time ... Jesus even used a Samaritan as a symbol in one of his parables "the good Samaritan", because of their reputation in that time. What even more demonstrates the hate for the Samaritans by the Jews of the time of Christ was when the disciples and brothers of Jesus - James and John - themselves asked Christ if they could call fire down from the sky to devour them for rejecting him ...
Yet, how did Christ himself respond to his disciples? He rebuke them and said , "you know not what spirit you are of" ....
Quote:
Samaritan Opposition(Luke 9:51-56)
When the days were approaching for His ascension, He was determined to go to Jerusalem; and He sent messengers on ahead of Him, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to make arrangements for Him. But they did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem. When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” And they went on to another village.
All you Christians who support these constant preemptive attacks in the middle east, who support torture and prison camps and indefinite detention of all people including American citizens ... do you know what spirit you are of?
Read this article(not specifically in support of Dr. Paul) and think about what i am saying ... http://ricklove.net/?p=741
