So suppose the Romney campaign implodes and Dr. Paul pushes on to win the nomination thanks to his strong support base.

1. Who do you think would make a good VP for Paul? VP's are usually picked to address a candidates shortcoming or appeal to a key block of voters, or will Paul go in a different direction?

2. Whom in Congress will form his base? He'll need someone to introduce and support the legislation he'll need to pass to make changes in the government. Simply vetoing legislation won't work if big-business conservatives and liberals form a coalition to preserve the status quo and override his vetos with a 2/3 majority.

VP-Rand Paul,Jesse Ventura

Not sure about the base in congress. The thing I like about Paul is he reaches across all spectrums. The liberals like him because he wants to relax drug laws I am all for it they are also anti war,Republicans will like him for cutting the budget..I don't think he will have a problem getting things through. A lot of things he can do without congress. Like bringing all troops home from overseas that in itself lowers the budget,he can defund the departments he wants to get rid of.

Considering his following before the scandal stuff, would Herman Cain do it for Dr. Paul. I mean all the racist news letter crap might be quelled with it. He might get the Cain "Private Sector" following. He might get more of the Black vote away from Big O.

Just throwing it out there for discussion.

RULE #1 on Ron Paul's thread: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. There are 2 of them, maybe the same person with two different username.

Back to topic.

VP choice: the judge

Yes, congress can over-write his veto with 2/3 of the votes, but you have to understand politicians are very loyal to the party. You do not see too many of them going against their own party.

The president also get a lot more air time then any congress. Just ask any Joe and ask him to name the president, the house majority/minor leaders. Senate majority/minority leaders. I bet you 9 out of 8 will unable to name the house/senate leaders, but no problem naming the president.

One more thing, the executive branch have a lot of alphabet entities (like TSA), he can shut down or reduce the size dynamically. He can call all the troops home. Just shrinking the size of the executive branch will save us a lot of money.

So stop trolling, silly.

Oh, Paul will be able to do nothing, he has to be elected to the Whitehouse to do that and he cannot even win the GOP nomination so much for his crackpot ideas going anywhere

CW. Do you think since Paul is not exactly going with the flow of the current Republicans that he would appeal to Democrats and Independents in congress more? An obvious toe the line Republican would have trouble but Paul's positions are all across the political spectrum I think he appeals to Democrats and Independents as well as disenfranchised Republicans.

He will appeals to everyone except the status quo. The tide is changing, and no one want to stay with a ship that doesn't change the course. Politicians are human being too, it is just basic instant to do what it take to keep their jobs, one of the best available jobs in this country.

One thing no one talk about is the 2014 election. 1/3 of the seats are up for re-election. They will do what it take to get election. Blaming the president will not get them re-elected.

1. It will be someone with the same Constitutional values as he has. If he already said there is no way he would accept any of the other candidates offer for a VP position, you can bet money, they will not be close to becoming his pick for a running mate.

2. You seem to think, the only election coming up, is for office of the President. All the members of the house and many Progressives in the Senate, are up for re-election. With the drastic change in direction of the political spectrum, challenged during the 2010 mid terms, you will see more pressure to continue the trend, to individual freedom & liberty.

If Paul is elected, you can be the tone in the House and Senate elections, will follow suit. 2008 proved that to be true, with Obama being elected, along with a host of Progressives taking House and Senate seats.

Since that turned out to be a dismal failure for our sovereignty, it is time for the Conservative ideas to make headway, to restore our sovereignty.
