My teachers union brags that they also support Republican campaign donations...even though the democrats got more than 95% of the money.

Check this out:

"The Wauwatosa School District, which faced a $6.5 million shortfall, anticipated slashing 100 jobs—yet the new pension and health contributions saved them all."

Walker's reforms saved 100 jobs in 1 school district alone.

"The institute calculates that these steps will save the districts $211.45 per student. If the state’s other 250 districts currently served by WEA Trust follow suit, the savings statewide could reach hundreds of millions of dollars."

More money for the school districts?!?! Won't anyone think of the poor unions?!?!

The article was also in Feb 2011, before the new law went into effect and before the savings could be verified. So, it was speculative opinion, not fact. There is quite a bit of difference.

And what the hell are you even talking about "unions intimidating papers?" Are you reading what you're typing? Just how in the world do public employee unions intimidate? Do they send knife wielding librarians down to the offices? Or how about crowbar-wielding teachers?

Bob ...Your comments have the depth of the most recent SOU by Mr Obama. Short, very short on his record, long on campaign slogans. It would be great to see a comment from you that actually addresses the discussion with some substance.

Just maybe, retired Wisconsinites should stay up North when
they retire - you know because their taxes are so low
Right on, right on, right on!!!!

Actually Bob is right to the point. Right now the betting in Wisconsin is whether Walker will be indicted or re-called first.

4 times the charm, maybe they will eventually get it through their thick skulls.
And look at the money they cost the State by the damage they did! OMG!

Talk about thugs!!!

Indicted? Doubt it. Recalled? A possibility. You'll enjoy the latest news. If you think I am cherry picking from this article, read the thing. There is good and negative news for both parties to this fight.

Source for quotes. Mil Journal Sentinel Online 1-28-12

The union very well might have the votes to unseat walker. Details of how are in the article, and is also the source of the following quotes.

Is this fair?

"Giving unions monopoly bargaining on top of the existing political influence had long-term consequences. According to the 2011 edition of the Bureau of National Affairs "Union Membership and Earnings Data Book," mean hourly earnings for public workers in Wisconsin is 13% higher than for those on private payrolls."

Not to mention the premium pension and health benefits.

"That bill limited the scope of collective bargaining, required public-sector unions to be recertified periodically and relieved public employees of the obligation to pay for unwanted union representation."

Take the power away, and eliminate the monopoly against the interests of the majority of Wisconsinites. For context of my use of the word, 'majority', remember the unions are 12% of the registered voters in Wisconsin. Add in family and you might get to 20 or 25% (it is a guess).

Great tactic: ignore the Math, ignore that the unions have become a big greedy corporation with their monopoly of health insurance providing, and make grandiose projections of Walker's demise behind bars.

Um, LML is actually in Wisconsin; she just might have a better take on the situation than someone elsewhere who's relying on other sources for their take on the situation there. Just sayin'.
