Charleston metro has over 600K Charleston proper has about 120K. If we are using metro areas then shoot Raleigh Durham has close to 3 million and Charlotte has about 1.8 million. Metro areas are massive and include counties that are way far away from the cities themselves.
Get over yourself. North Carolina is in no way better than South Carolina and it is just childish to even say it is. I understand that you live there and want to believe that you are something special but you are not. Sorry. BTW I have been to all of the locations you are talking about and Charleston is my pick as the best,

North Carolina is not better then South Carolina it is just different then South Carolina. I like both states, but you have to be blind and, or extremely stubburn not to admit that they are very different.
If anything you are the one who says one is better then the other and if you like Charleston so much why don't you sell your house here and move there.

In what way do you see them as being much different?

For about the 3rd time. North Carolina has lots of Medium sized cities where most North Carolinians live, SC doesn't, South Carolina is much more rural and small cities and that is where most South Carolinians live as such North Carolina has a much more urbanized/suburbanized population then South Carolina. That is not to say urban or rural is better, but rather that they are very different.

Absolutely it is a huge difference. If you don't believe me that spend a week in any substantial city anywhere and then spend a week in the country and tell me you think they are the same.

North Carolina has as much or more country living as South Carolina because it is so much larger in size.
