I don't think Fred ever thought of himself as a first rate actor, most stars are not first rate: as for a failed politician, I hardly think you can call him a failed politician. He ran for Pres, (against his will probably) and he didn't go far, but that doesn't make his record a failed one.

I don't know Thompson's record (you seem to suggest you do) , but if a person represented their constituents' interests (which is what they are elected to do) , I'm not sure that warrants mention in the history books.
first of all; what does this have to do with Thompson endorsing him and second, it is easy to win without being on all 50 ballots. It is the total number of delagates and how many have to vote the way their state party has set up them to vote, it doesn't take 50 ballots. Newt not being on the VA ballot certainly will hurt, the other couple account for almost no delegates. BTW, don't believe everything you hear, starting with he ran to promote his book... It might have started that way but we will never know. People can say anything. Supporters of his opponents will say whatever they think of to change the opinions of some. This is what politics is all about.
